SOME PERSONAL NOTES. Sergeant Walter Anderson Holmes, died of wounds, was born in Dunedin, educated at Wellington Terrace School and Wellington College. He was sergeant in the Wellington College Cadets, and In 1912 his team won the squad drill competition. He was afterwards sergeant in the Wellington Regiment Territorials. He was stroke of the Boys' College Boating Club, and also rowed in the Junior Fouri for the Star Boating Club. He left New Zealand as a member of the Bth Reinforce- | ment, and took part in the New Zealand trench raid of June 16 last, and under tryI ing conditions brought his pa rt >' through. : He was personally congratulated by both i General Birdwood and General Braithwaite. i Was mentioned in dispatches, and awarded 'the Military Medal. He was in the Custom* : Department, Wellington, when he enlisted. I Captain Alfred Harvey, D.5.0., is re- • ported to have died of wounds in Mesopoj tamia. He was the youngest son of the lata ! Rev. Bache Wright Harvey, a former headi master of Wanganui College. A brother of j Captain Harvey, is in practice at WaverI ley, near Wanganui.
