SWIMMING.
EAST CHRISTCHURCH CLUB. . Tho committee of the East Christchurch Club met la.st evening at the Tepid Baths. Two now members were elected. It was decided to write to the headmaster of the East Christehureh School, asking him to select six of the best swimmers in the school, who would be admitted free to tho club and its races for the purpose of encouraging swimming among the boys. Mr Sanderson resigned from the committee, and Mr P. Kirby was appointed to fill the vacancy. Jt was decided to give certificates to placed men in club race:, in lieu of trophies, with the exception of club trophy competitions. The following races were fixed:— November 27 —ill! l-3yds handicap, for new members only; also a iiii l-3yds open handicap. December 4—soyds open handicap. December .11—(5(5 L'-.'lyds open handicap. December 18—100 yds open handicap. The appointment of officials was left to the captain,
