PRICE OF FLOUR.

Mr .»'. McCombs, M.P., wrote to the President of the Board of Trade, the Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald, a few days ago, stating that the price of flour had been advanced another 10/- per ton, and was now 50 per cent higher than the prices ruling in 1912 and 1913, with prospects of a further increase. lie suggested that the Government should lift the duty on Australian ilour, in order to steady the price in New Zealand. To-day Mr MeCombs received the following wire from the Hon. Mr MacDonald:—

"With reference to your letter re advance in the juice of flour, the Board of Trade has made inquiries, and finds that Hour and bread prices are the same as when the hoard reported in April last. The position, however, is being watched." Mr McConibs has replied, stating that he cannot understand how the recent increase has escaped the notice of the vigilant board.
