October 1. l)r Alexis Carrel, of the Rockefeller Institute, announces that the adoption of reforms in surgical methods throughout France has resulted in a vast diminution of amputations and of failures in what have hitherto been regarded as fatal wounds. Also the use of the Dakin
solution in wounds is rendering possible much grafting of tissue, hone, and Ik'sh. hitherto found impracticable, on a large scale. Another reform is the adoption of the American system of Ihe "speeding up" of the transport of wounded.
