SCOTTISH SOCIETY.

The monthly ceilidh was held oi I Thursday evening in the rooms, .Man tchester Street, there being an overflow attendance. Chief Williamson, after tin preliminary business, election of new members, and nomination of Severn more', intimated that for the nexl month, besides the usual full pro programme, including "Hallowe'en' and the "Gathering of the Clans," tlu society had undertaken the control of exhibition of highland dancing, etc., al New Brighton North Red Cross fuuc tion, and a special concert at Riccartoi on behalf of the Lady Liverpool Fund The entertainment of the evening was of a very high character, special vocal Scottish and patriotic items being con tributed by Messrs Bills and Foster, and individually by Messrs Leslie, Clan more, Jones, and Hitchens, of the "New York Comedy Four." The songs and patter of the " Twa Wee MeColls" wen decidedly pleasing, and to a considerable extent original in style and character. Recitations were given by Mi Brown and .Miss Fellingham; selection of Scottish airs on the concertina by Messrs Chadwick and Colin Campbell; and Mr Hugh MeLeod, by means of a gramophone, produced the "Cameron Men'' and "Stop Yer Ticklin," in Gaelic, as sung by his brother, Mr Reel erick MeLeod, the premier Gaelic singer of Scotland, and Gold Medallist of the Highland Mod. Exhibition dances were given by Master Brown, and a reel by very tinv tots, members oi' the dancing class. 1 luring the evening the "pirlie pig" was sent round as usual for the Belgian Fun.l, and collected £1 17/."). After a short dance, with Miss Mac.donald and Piper Fraser acting as musicians, a particularly successful evening closed with "Auld'Lang Syne."
