At the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court this morning, before Mr W. C. Cleary, J .P., a prohibition order was issued igainst a woman who had lately returned from Pakatoa.

Our Wellington correspondent wires that the four English doctors imported by the Wellington Lodges arrived yesterday. They are not connected with he Medical Association, which quarrel led with the lodges regarding the rates. The second express from the south was nearly an hour and a-half late yesterday evening, the delay being caused by a goods train, which was derailed at Whitecraggs, near Onmaru. The departure of the ferry steamer was delayed to enable the express to connect. The Val Trigge Mission was continued in Wesley Church last evening. There was a large congregation. The subject of the Rev. Val Trigge's address was "Baffled Love." Several inquirers were dealt with at the close. This afternoon an "Old Folks At Home'' was held, when a large number of elderly people were entertained in the schoolroom. The mission will be continued on Sundav.

The customary equanimity of warehousemen's existence was rudely disturbed to-day by the announcement that a gentleman well known in Lichfield Street circles had suddenly departed for a destination unknown. Rumour hath it that he developed the habit of mixing up the cash of his employer with that in his own pocket, and that the balance to the employer's debit at the end of the mixing process would require some thousands of the newly-issued tenshilling notes to balance. The present whereabouts of the alleged "stirrer" of capital are unknown, but the police are in possession of a warrant of arrest, which will be served when opportunity arises.
