NO HATING.
GREAT ALLIED SUCCESSES ON THE SOMME.
LORD BRYCE'S ADDRESS. CRITICISED BY NEWSPAPERS. Australian and S.Z. Cable Association. (Heceived October 5, 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, October 4. Referring to Lord Bryce's speech, the "Daily Graphic" says that Lord Bryce, who conducted an inquiry into the German atrocities, who listened to harrowing evidence, and who signed an indictment placing Germany an outcast among nations, now talks of not banning the whole nation. The "Graphic" declares that it is incorrect to charge the Allies with hating and desiring revenge. They merely loathe Hie Germans. [A message published yesterday stated:Lord Hrycc, addressing the Congregational Union, said we might be compelled to impose severe terms on the enemy, but he urged the repression of passion, and deprecated a Irade war, because of the immense opportunities for mischief. The chief consideration in the peace terms should be a durable peace.]
