HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce lias received the following cablegram, dated London, September 30, from the High Commisisoncr for New Zealand. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise sp( cificd, are average market prices on spot) :- Meat. —There is a less demand for nil descriptions of frozen meat, owing to large supplies of Home-killed mutton and Scotch lambs, which are selling at comparatively low prices. New Zealand mutton prices are lower. New Zealand mutton, per lb, SJd, ewe mutton 8d; Argentine mutton, 7jd; Home killed ewe mutton, 7;d to 7Jd; New Zealand lamb, flUl; Argentine lamb, Sjd; Scotch lamb, 10id; Argentine chilled beef, hinds 9d, fores 7<l. Butter. —The market continues firm, owing to continued small supplies. Demand is likely to decrease. Stocks in cold store are very light and declining rapidly. Position will remain most dillicult for buyers until arrival of new season's make colonial butters. Danish, salted, per cwt, 204/- to 210/-; Irish creamery, salted 194/- to 196/-, unsalted 19G/- to 198/-, exceptionally 200/-; New Zealand, salted 199/- to 201/-; Canadian, salted 188/- to 190/-; Dutch, salted 194/-, unsalted YX-/-; Argentine, unsalted 191/-; American creamery, salted 184/- to 180/-. Cheese.—Hie market is firmer, and prices have u hardening tendency. There is a fair demand. Canadian, white 107/- to 109/-, coloured 107/ to 109/-; New Zealand, white 106/- I<> 108/-, coloured lOC/- to 108/-; English Cheddar, IKS/- to 122.'-. Hemp - There is a (inn market, especially for best quality New Zealand, which sup ply is running short. Good fair New Zealand, per ton, £SO, fair £18; Government graded lair Manila £".2, coarse £l9. OctoberDecember shipment: Good fair New Zraland £!!) 10/, lair £47. The output of hemp at Manila for the week ending last Saturday v.as 16,000 hales. Wheat.- -The market is firm, but demand only moderate. Canadian, arrived 66/6, Oc-tober-November 65/-. Oats.—There is a steady market, but inactive. New Zealand, ex store. X',t). Wool. There is a strong market.
