MORE GROUND GAINED. CAPTURE OF EAUCOURT L'ABB A YE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, October 2. Sir Douglas Haig reports:—South of the Ancre we advanced over 3000 yards from east of Eaucourt l'Abbayc lo the Albert-Bapaume Road, northcast of the Destremont Farm. It is reported that the village of Eaucourt l'Abbaye is in our hands. We took over 300 prisoners. Our casualties were small. We blew up an ammunition dump In the village of le Transloy. Our aeroplanes bombed two enemy aerodromes and brought down four machines. Since September 18, between the Ancre and the Somme, we have captured 24 guns and six howitzers. From July 1 to September 30 we have taken prisoner 568 officers and 20,147 men.
