The Kuhika haves to-day for Westport, and the Wanaka for Timaru to complete loading for Auckland and Newcastle. The Kaikoura. at present at Auckland, from Montreal, via Panama Canal, is expected at Lyttclton about Tuesday next. With coal from Greymouth, the Blackball Company's collier Ngatoro is due on Saturday morning. The Mararoa is to be withdrawn at Wellington tomorrow to proceed to Dunedin for her annual overhaul. The Pateena will be to-morrow's ferry steamer.

With 44 passengers and 1000 tons of cargo on board, the Wcstralia left Sydney at 4 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon for Auckland and southern ports. She is due at Auckland on Monday morning, and sails the following day for Gisborne, Napier, and Wellington, arriving at Wellington next Friday, and sailing the same day for Lyttclton and Dunedin.

The third vessel of the Luckenbach Line to visit New Zealand- the Hattie Luckenbachis due to arrive at Auckland in about a week's time from New York, via Panama Canal direct. She will reach Wellington about the middle of September. According to present arrangements the "Hattie" will be followed by the Pleiades. Somewhat earlier than anticipated, the new liner Devon left Auckland yesterday morning for Wellington, where she is due tomorrow morning. She will leave again fur Lyttclton on Wednesday.

The Japanese steamer Kuan Maru is expected to arrive at Auckland within the next few days with a full load of phosphate guano from Makatea Island. 'Hie Wellington ofliee of the F. and S. Line received a wireless message yesterday morning from the liner Essex, bound from New; York to Wellington, via Panama, stating that she will reach port on Saturday morning. After discharging there the Essex will go on to Auckland and Australian ports.

On Sunday next the flora will return to Auckland from the Islands. She is bringing the usual shipment of fruit for New Zealand.

A private letter received in Wellington reports ii. slight mishap which took place at Waitara on Sunday. During the height of the Kale two barges, which were lightering the liner Durham ill the roadstead, liroke away and landed on the beach. One was loaded with 700 quarters of beef, and the other was empty. The full barge is being unloaded by means of motor and horse conveyances.

Mr Jarvie has signed on the h'apiti as mate, in place of Mr King. Mi' Bcrgguist signed on the Ngahere as second olliccr when the vessel was at Auck land. Mr A. P. I.antz, who lias been acting third of the vessel, signed off in Wellington. Mr (1. R. bulla is to take charge of the engine room stall' of the Takapuna, which is being recoininissioncd for the Wellington Nelson run.
