MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
TO-DAY'S CASES. Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., sat at the Magistrate's Court to-day. DRUNKENNESS. One first offender was fined 5/- for drunkenness. MOTORING WITHOUT LIGHTS. Uartly Lagar was convicted and discharged for motor eveling without lights. COULDN'T HELP IT. "I plead guilty, your Worship," said Michael Moran, on being placed in the dock. "Don't do that until you know what the charges arc," advised the Magistrate.
The charges were of drunkenness, a breach of a prohibition order, and of refusing to pay a tram fare.
"Oh! the tramfare?" said the accused, remjnisccntly, "that slipj>ed down tho lining of mv pocket. I couldn't help that." The police, however, stated that accused could have helped making himself a source of considerable annoyance to the conductor and passengers. Four witnesses, who were in attendance, but did not give evidence, intimated, on being asked, that they would not claim expenses. "Well, that will save you a little," commented Mr Bailey. "You are fined 5/- and costs on each charge.
