CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
The Canterbury Caledonian Society held its fortnightly social evening on Monday night Ust, many members and friends being present. The following ladies and gentlemen contributed items:—Songs by Mrs MeGillivray, Mrs Lewis, Miss Goggin, and Mr McKay; recitation by Mr Mai i'olm; conjuring turn by Mr B. Wilson; pianoforte solo by Miss Swanston; whistling solo by MrHeyman; Highland fling by Miss Greta Benmelberg; sword dance by Miss Clara Mcintosh; reel by Misses Sylvia Stark, Gwen Turner, Mavis Spiller, and Nellie Sinclair; fancv dance by Miss Ruby Clark. The pipers were Sergt.-Major Craig and Messrs Erskine. Shanahan. Fraser. and Maasev. The president (Mr C. S. Thomas), in moving a vote of thanks to the performers and Messrs A. McKenzie and B. Moore, the directors in charge of the evening, referred to the successful season the society was enjoying, and mentioned that up to the present 62 new members had been made. The society intend placing before the public a purely Scottish concert on Saturday, November 11, and the King's Theatre has been engaged for that date.
