MARSHLAND.

The Marshland Patriotic Committee, which always gives its boys a public farewell social before they leave for the front, and has already sent over 00 boys, gave another send-off social on Wednesday evening to Privates Percy Dobby ami Frank Goode. The attendance at the farewell socials has been excellent, but the gathering on Wednesday night was exceptionally large. A musical programme was given by Mrs Downtou. Misses Cocker, Eileen Beck, Doreen Hasher, Doris Beck, and Mr Wotton. Speeches were made by the chairman. Mr W. J. Walter. Mr J.'Vosa, and Mr .(. G. Poison, all of whom spoke in the highest praise of the guests, and wished them every good luck, and said they hoped that they would help in bringing the war to a victorious issue, and come back safe and sound. Cheers were given for them, and the audiejce sang -'For They Are Jolly Good Fellows. '' j For a roll of honour the Marshland Patriotic Committee hangs in the hall [framed photographs of the boys as they ileave for the front, and the honour of | unveiling the photo is given in rotation to the mothers whose sons are on !active service. The unveiling ceremony on Wednesday was performed by Mrs Dobby, the mother of one of the guests, who has another son, Garland, who was at the Dardanelles campaign, and is now in the firing line in France. The boys whose photos were unveiled were Privates Stanbridge, D. Martin, J. Perkaskie (who left with the Australian Forces), Riflemen R. Hall, W. Dempsey, and ]f. Dempsey. Dancing was indulged in, the music being supplied by Miss Wotton. and Mr Victor Harris acting as M.C.
