W. POUNSFORD. A sudden death occurred at Spreydon last evening, when Mr R. W. Pounsford, a well-known Government poultry grader, died as the result of heart failure. With his wife, he was motoring homewards, and when only a few chains from his residence in Selwyn Street he complained of weakness, and slowed down his machine. Mr Pounsford lost consciousness, and the machine ran into the side-channel, throwing Mrs Pounsford out of the side-car, fortunately without injury, Mr Pounsford was obviously very ill, and before he could be taken to his home he expired. The deceased had been a resident of Christchurch for about 10 years. He was for some time in charge of the poultry grading depot here, and had previously been in Auckland. He was a native of Victoria, and was of a genial and kindly disposition. He was an enthusiast in the pigeon fancy, and a capable judge. He leaves a widow and eight of a family.
