Cable Association. j HOME, August 17, j Prisoners are still arriving from Gorizia, trembling, dazed, and suffering from the terrible effects of battle. Gorizia is still under the iiajectory of the opposing batteries. ji.nd there is a terrific hurricane of ■ shells at limes. j This is nothing to the actual lighting scenes to the eastward of the 'town, where battalion after battalion comes into close touch with the enemy. Every inch of ground is hotly contested, and there are furilous hand-to-hand encounters. Thickly-armoured cars at times (lash up to within a few feel of the ;enemy lines, and pour in an enfilading machine-gun tire.
