The coastal steamer John is due at l.yt telton from Wellington on Sunday, and is to sail for Wangamil on Monday. It is expected that the collier Melbourne will complete discharge of Ihe local portion of her cargo of Newcastle coal to-day. 'Hie vessel goes next to Akaroa to put out Ihe balance, after which she will go north to load timber for Australia. The departure of the Kin! for Wcstport has been postponed until to-day. At the West Coast port Ihe vessel will load for Napier. At 0.:iO a.m. yesterday the lluddartParkcr Line's steamer Wimmera arrived At Wellington from Melbourne. She will remain there until to-morrow, when she will leave for I.yttelton. She is to leave (his port on Monday for Melbourne, via southern ports. The liner Corintblc arrived this morning to discharge Home cargo. Although the Monowai left I.yttelton for Duncdin yesterday- a day late she is due back here to-morrow !o load for northern ports. Mr C. M. Bothanilcy, late of Messrs Levin find Co., has accepted an appointment in the merchandise department of Messrs burns. Phllp, and Co.'s Wellington branch. Mr T. A. Morgan, a marine engineer in the service of the Indian Government, is visiting New Zealand. He intends to leave for England by the Rotorua. Mr A. Henry, first mate of the Nikau, is confined to his home at Nelson, owing to a slight illness. In the meantime Mr It. Woolf, of the Anchor Shipping Company's Nelson stall', is acting mate of the Nikau. An expected arrival at Wellington about the middle of next week is the liner Essex, from New York, via Panama Canal, After discharge here the Essex will go on to Auckland, and subsequently across to Australia. En route from Liverpool the liner Devon left Sydney on Wednesday Tor Auckland, where she is due on Sunday or Monday next. She will arrive al Wellington about a wee!: later and I.yttelton three davs later. The Corinna, a! present undergoing over haul at Port Chalmers, is due back in Wellington on Tuesday, August 20. She is fixed to go from here to Nelson and New Plymouth.
