THE THEATRES.
OPERA HOUSE. A change of programme will take place at the Opera House to-night, when the Dancing McLeans will make their initial appearance. This turn is described as Ihe most dazzling and daring dance in vaudeville. Another new turn will be that of The Erncslos, who are famous equilibrists and acrobats. The Bunty Comedy Company, who are in (heir (bird week, will present another of their clever and humorous little comedies entitled "What Mac Saw." Dan Thomas is still on the hill, and this week ho will give some more of bis witticisms and characterisations. In addition there are other good turns. "MOTHER GOOSE" PANTOMIME. The box plans for the .1. C. Williamson, Ltd., "Mother (loose" pantomime season will he opened al Milne r and Thompson's on Wednesday next for the entire season of seven nights and Iwo matinees. II is affirmed that never before in the way of pantomime have Ihe J. C. Williamson linn succeeded in staging so complete and elegant an entertainment as "Mother Goose." A casl of unusual ability has been secured. Moreover, Ihe story of "Mother (loose" lends itself well, making available the opportunity for the introduction of a number of attractively novel features. The scenario is in artistic (ouch with Ihe story, which holds more closely to the original legend than is cuslomary. There are i(i line scenes. II is said that Ihe keynote of Ihe pantomime is iis inherent brightness. The fun is fast and
. laughter-compelling. The music rip-; pies and runs from ragtime to grand! opera. There are several good : ! specialities, foremost of which are the illusion of Ihe. "illuminated swings," a feature of which is the! j floating of a number of beautiful; I girls over the auditorium. The mystic attraction of "The Dream Girl." The spectacular hunting speciality. The clever and intensely; ! humorous "Ship" scene, and the daz-j zling grand finale of "Gooseland."j 'The ballets, which are numerous, are another big feature, and include I i'The Soldiers' Ballet," "The Bon-! Bon Ballet," "The Balloon Dance,": "The Bank Note Ballet," and a beautiful "Flower Ballet." The cast includes Miss Lilian De Yenny, a notable English pantomime "boy," Mrj i Arthur Sliganl, a famous player of. i Dame parts, who will be see"n as! Mother Goose, Mr Albert Felino, a great actor of animal roles, who will impersonate the Goose, Mr Arthur Bevholds (Baron Roderick), Mr Victor Kelly (Jack), Mr Billy Le Brun (the Donkey, afterwards the Horse), and Miss Maud Fane (Jill), a popular English pantomime "girl." | OLYMPIA RINK. Although the carnival atmosphere | has now departed from the Olympia | Rink, good business was done on Sat- j i urday, and also at all sessions to-day. | On Saturday evening the prizes won jat the carnival during last week | were presented.
