Seagcr, J. J. Doug;.ll, J. Hay, E. Lovell Smith, Edward Pavitt, and I)r flight. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. Recce and R. C. "Bishop. The chairman said that it was with regret that he had to speak of the loss the section bad sustained by the deaths of Messrs W. G. Brittain and J. E. Naish, which had taken place since the committee last met. He referred to the able service given to the section by both gentlemen, and to the valuable work they had done in the development of the province. A resolution expressing the committee's regret at the passing away of two such esteemed members was passed. In speaking of the Early Colonists' Room, which was to be opened at the Museum, Mr Adams expressed the opinion that the collection should not be confined to exhibits dealing only with the early settlers' times. Those having a bearing on later times should also be collected, as they would have a historical significance in days to come. (Proceeding.)
