RED CROSS
UPPER RICCARTON. At the meeting of the Upper Riccarton Branch of the Red Cross Society, held on Tuesday, in the Church Schoolroom, Mr A- B. G. Rhodes gave an address on his trip to England, and of his visits to the hospitals where New Zealand troops are being cared for. He also spoke of the active part taken by the women of England in connection with Red Cross work. He asked the members to continue sending woollen and flannel garments, as they were very much needed. Mrs Walter Hill also spoke. She said she had found that the branch sent on an average for the last six months, 100 garments, etc., per week. Musical items were contributed by Mr W. Lunn, and the National Anthem was sung by those present. GENERAL FUND.. The receipt of the following subscriptions to the Red Cross Fund is acknowledged: —For sick and wounded .soldiers at the various hospitals where New Zealanders are lying:—Amount previously
