In the meantime they are exhaustively studying the prospects of opening up Japanese trade. - They state there is no desire on Japan's part to compete with Australian manufacturers hut lo send only articles previously imported from Germany and Austria. The manager of the Osaka Shosen Kaisha, who is one of the Commissioners, slates that if circumstances warrant it his company will inaugurate a regular cargo service. He is convinced that trade between Australia and Japan can be enormously developed.
