HEAVY ENLISTMENTS. EFFECT OF THE CANVASS. Another heavy day was experienced at the city recruiting offices yesterday, 48 mimes being added to the roll. The total number of fit men secured for the 17th Reinforcement is now 75, but of this number 13 will leave to-morrow to fill vacancies in the previous Reinforcement. Many of the recruiting cards have been handed in by the C.D.C. canvassers, while a number of those enlisting admit that they have been "stirred up" by the canvass.
