Fruit: Pears lid to 2d,J! apples 2d to -_Ud per lb. At the annual meeting of the Upper Ashburton Road Board Mr ('. .1. Harper, • who has been chairman of the board for a great number of years, was un- ' auimously re-elected. In thanking the board for his re-election he remarked ' that this would probably be his last •' term, as he intended to retire. .Mem- . bors: No fear. At the special meeting of the Ashburton Hospital Board plans of a new fever ward were approved. It was decided to |' forward the plans to the Health Del partment, and if they are accepted a:; start will be made at an early date. The request of the Ashburton Pigeon ii and Canary Society to the Department to have an exhibit at the j s annual show has been granted.
