VETERANS' ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING. There was a good attendance at the annual meeting on Saturday evening of the Canterbury Veterans' Association of Army, Navy, and Auxiliary Forces. Mr .1. Timbrell was in the chair. The balance-sheet showed that the receipts for the year aggregated £:!46 13/1, which included a cash balance of £(>!> ')/- brought forward from the previous year, £l7O 8/4 derived from the proceeds of socials, etc., and £.'!:! 9/6 obtained from subscriptions and entrance fees. The expenditure totalled £338 7/oi, that amount including £6O 5/- which was expended in paying off an overdraft, and £153 '•'•/ ilk spent on socials. There was a cash credit balance of £8:1/7 J. The liabilities amounted to £ls :>/8, and the excess of assets over liabilities was shown at £9!) 13/111. Cresswell; secretary, Mr J. Timbrell; honorary treasurer, Mr R. Cambridge; auditors, Messrs M. Hartigan and 11. •Macintosh; chaplain. Rev. A. 11. Norris. After some discussion, the meeting agreed to form a sub-section to work in the interests of the Soldiers' Queen in the Queen Election. A report from the North Brighton Returned Soldiers' Convalescent Home was considered to be very satisfactory.
