Eighty 'per cent, has been paid to reinsure her. She is six days overdue, and ;has been posted missing at Liverpool. It is reported that there arc 200 passengers and 132 of a crew aboard, including Sir E. M. Merej wether, Governor of Sierra Leone, I his wife, and suite, and many other West African Civil Servants. (Received January 31, !» a.m.) LONDON. January 30. The Appam, which was one of ■Elder Dempster and Co.'s show boats, was splendidly fitted, in dudting a wireless apparatus. Captain Harrison was one of the best-known | West African navigators. The vessel left Dakir on January ill, and was last seen on January 14. The boat which was picked up is j quite new, and capable of carrying 'lO people. Probably it was dami aged by a passing steamer hitting it in the darkness. A search revealed (no wreckage in the vicinity of the boat. Officials of the company suggest that, as one boat was afloat, others may be picked up by passing vessels. [A cable message ou Saturday stated that the West African liner Appam (7781 tons) carrjing IW* passengers, was believed to have been lost. A battered lifeboat *ai picked up at Madeira.)
