RANGIORA COUNTY.

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The Rangiora County Council met last evening. Present: Messrs F. Horrell (chairman), M. H. Stokes, W. McTntosh, W. Stalker, and H. Tallatt.

The Minister of Internal Affairs wrote stating that distinguishing letters "R.G." had been assigned to the council for registration of motors, and numbers 1 to 500. Messrs Hehnore and Van Asch, attorneys, wrote on behalf of Mr John Waller, re the council agreeing to approval of a proposed road on his subdivision, and enclosing plan and agreement by which Mr Waller would undertake to form and shingle the road to the satisfaction of the council when called upon to do so. The chairman was authorised to sign the agreement. Mr 1). Ramsay asked the council to transfer a portion of reserve 1380 to Mr John Waller. The chairman and Cr Stalker were deputed to inspect the reserve with Mr Waller and report. It was agreed that the fee for sheep and cattle dogs for the year should be 2/G to farmers, and for all other dogs 10/-. Mr J. W. Doggett was appointed ranger for Rangiora Riding and Mr B. Howarth for Cust Riding. R was resolved to cease buying small birds' heads and eggs after February 1. The council decided to add 10 per cent, on all rates unpaid February 15. Mr F. W. Johnston waited on the council on behalf of the North Canterbury Recruiting Board with reference to canvassing the district for recruits, in conjunction with members of the Rangiora Borough Council.

The receipts for the month amounted to £372 12/4, and there was a debit balance at the bank of £2209 14/1. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £315 15/1.
