PATRIOTIC FUND.
BANKS PENINSULA WAR FUNDS APPEAL. A successful concert and dance was held on New Year's Eve in Mr J; O. Coop's wool shed, Kaituna, in aid of the Kaituna and Birdling 's Flat section of the Peninsula War Funds appeal, when the very satisfactory total of £7OO was : realised. The sale of a Union Jack was responsible for £672. Mr Corsbie, of the Loan and Mercantile Co., acted as auctioneer. Particulars of the sale are as under: — Mr and Mrs Jameson £lO5, W. F. The flag was then finally put up, and was knocked down to Mr W. F. Parkinson for £SO. Mr Parkinson presented it to the Kaituna Domain. There was also realised as the result of a guessing competition for a cushion presented by Mrs Joseph 11. Parkinson, £4 14/-, and for a cake presented by Mrs A. E. Birdling £2, the balance being for door monev, etc., bringing the total to £7OO. The Kaituna and Birdling's Flat stall at Little River on Boxing Lav realised; £42 3/7.
