SUMMER-REDCLIFFS
Fro7,i Our Own Vorrespoitdfit. Several members of the Stunner branch of the Royal Life-saving Society visited Taylor's Mistake yesterday morning and gave an interesting demonstration of life-saving. The campers turned out in full force, and listened with evident attention to the address which was given by Mr Billson on the methods of rescue and release. A team from the Sumner branch under Captain F. N. Kerr gave an exhibition with one of the life-saving reels, the work in the heavy sea being thoroughly appreciated by the onlookers. Mr F. L. Anderson also gave an address, illustrating the Schacfer method of resuscitation. A meeting of the residents was afterwards held, when it was decided to form a branch of the Royal Life-saving Society in Taylor's Mistake. Oflicers for the year were elected, including Mr Osborne as president, Mr Denton as secretary, and Mr Barrett as treasurer. The visitors were entertained at luncheon.
As if to show the necessity for a life-saving society in Taylor's Mislake, a swimmer yesterday morning got into difficulties owing to the strong undertow. A signal for help was given, and four members of the Sumner branch (Messrs Miller, lienson, Bacon, and Allen) went to the rescue, and succeeded in bringing the bather to the shore.
