The Tsar has sent the most, cordial New Year's wishes to Russia's true friend and valiant ally and greetings to the French Army. He expressed unshakeable confidence in the triumph of the common cause, hoping that their combined efforts will soon be crowned with success. M. Poincare replied: Our army is proud to co-operate with the valiant Russian Army for the defence of the right in Europe. We are resolved to fight on, together with our faithful Allies until the final victory."
