NEW ZEALANDERS ABROAD.
The "British-Australasian" of November 4 contains the following items of interest to New Zealanders: — The Misses K. Constance and Vale Barns, of Fendalton, Christchurch, who arrived in London last week, were met by their brother, Trooper P. Howard Barns, of the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry, who was wounded in the Dardanelles in August. They intend staying with relatives until January, when Miss K. C. Barns intends entering St. Thomas's Hospital, and her sister the Queen Charlotte Hospital. Lieut.-Col. C. M. Begg, who first had medical charge of the southern section of canal defences from Suez to the Lakes, and was with his company on the Canal during all the Turkish attacks, was wounded at Anzac in- June, but returned to duty shortly afterwards. When Col. Manders was killed Col. Begg was appointed acting director of the medical service, and took over command of all the medical units of the New Zealand and Australian Division at Anzac. He was invalided to England afi.er spending some ti r "0 at Mr'ta, and is now on furlough. Cnptain Wallingford, of the New Zealand Staff Corps, who was invalided for heart trouble, is on three months' leave in London. Dr A. L. Anderson, of Wellington, New Zealand, came to England to obtain a temporary commission in the R.A.M.C, and is now at Aldershot. Gunner K. R. Watson, formerly assistant engineer in the New Zealand Public Works Department, who is in the 4th Howitzer Battery of the N.Z.F.A., is spending his furlough in Edinburgh. Mr J. Cathcart Wason, M.P., whose hospitality to visitors to the Old Country is so well known, entertained to tea at the Houses of Parliament a few days ago, about 80 New Zealand soldiers. They were delighted with all they saw and heard, and had an opportunity of meeting many leading men.
