FRONTIERSMAN GIVES HIS LIFE FOR COMRADES.

Lieutenant Dartnell, of the League of Frontiersmen, lias received the Victoria Gross for the most conspicuous bravery on September 3, at Maktau, East Africa. During a mounted infantry engagement, when the enemy's black troops were murdering our wounded men, Lieutenant Dartnell, who was himself wounded, insisted on being left behind, iti the hope of saving the rest, lie lost his life in the most gallant attempt to save his comrades.

Lieutenant Dartnell is believed to be the first actor to win the Victoria Cross.
