BATTLE ON CARSO PLATEAU.
OFFER OF TRUCE REFUSED.
ROME, December 24.
An official communique says:—
"The-enemy, early on Thursday morning, attacked our positions west of Gorizia. Our artillery, assisted by prompt reinforcements, repulsed the Austrians. We also drove off an enemy advance east of Stelz, on the Carso Plateau."
ZURICH, December 26.
The Italians in the Gorizia region rejected the Austrians' offer for a Christmas truce.
