SIR lAN HAMILTON'S DISPATCH.

LONDON, December 23.

The "Pall Mall Gazette," commenting on the withdrawal, says:— "It was miraculous and lucky. The enemy's rage and stupefaction are shown by the wild words of the German bulletin-writer, who uses a pen larger than a brush in declaring that the Allies were swept off the Peninsula. Germany's nerves cannot bear the truth regarding what amounted to a brilliant British victory." In the House of Commons, Mr 11. J. Tennant said Sir lan Hamilton had convinced him that there were great difficulties in the way of a speedy presentation of his report. The delay did not rest w T ith Sir lan Hamilton.
