'THE NATION'S .PERIL AND AN INCENDIARY JOURNALIST. " ■ ' (Received December 2, 9.35 a.m.) LONDON, December 1. * 4 'The-Times" comments on the proceedings in the House of Commons as follows: "Sir. J. A. Simon's effort is merely another attempt to renew last week's attack, which failed so egregiously. If Ministers attacked the Germans with half the energy they devote to "Th* Times" they would be a good deal nearer to winning the war." The "Daily Mail" says:— "The Northqliffe Press is being attacked because it has criticised the Government's slackness and blunders in order to obtain a more vigorous prosecution of the war." - The "Daily News" says:— "Lord Northcliffe, since the war'begaii, has held the country lip to scorn, causing mischief in Allied and neutral countries and our Forces. The Government should not trifle further, for the (f> nation's peril must no longer be the sport of an incendiary journalist." '* _ A. cable message received overnight, containing a report of the .first" • part df the proceedings in the Hoiiße of Commons, will be found in another column, under the heading of, " Aid for tho Enemy.''
