SNEAK THIEVES IN CHRISTCHURCH. To the Editor of THE-SUN. Sir, —Prior to coming to Christchwrcli I had been duly impressed by its reputation as a city of righteousness, and expected .to have to adopt a sanctified air, but a stay here of only three weeks has been quite long enough to alter my views very considerably. I may say that I am a motor cyclist, and during my short stay here 1 have been relieved of the following articles from my machine: —Watch, two spanners, pump, pair of pliers, and a sparking plug. The contemptible sneak thieves who have been at work are evidently adepts, as my motor has never been left standing very long, and always in a public place. My friend with whom I have been staying is also a motor cyclist, and has also suffered similar losses, and it appears to me that Christchurch is likely to earn an unenviable reputation for sneakthieves. 1 have been riding motors for years in various parts of England and New Zealand without ever hav-j ing experienced such paltry and annoying thefts.—l am, etc., DISGUSTED.

Sir, —The board and the official whose management I ventured to criticise would certainly have to be a great deal worse than* they nat to have some champion with irrelevant remarks and pointless jokes, to try and justify their doings.
