PATRIOTIC FUND.

LAURISTON. A most successful entertainment/Was given by the Ashburton Troubadours on Monday evening in the local hall in aid of the funds being raised by the Ashburton County for the Patriotic Fund. The hall was crowded to its utmost capacity, and great was displayed by the large assemblage. A flag was submitted to auction by Mr J. Brown, and realised £522. A cow, presented by Mr, Alec Drummondj and other gooids sold, produced a net total of close on £6OO, which must be. a record for such a small community.
