"This is a true story of the last Zeppelin raid," says a London journal. "A civilian residing in a certain part of 'the 'London district' happened to possess a gun. On the arrival of the Zeppelin he boldly ran with his weapon into his back yard and blazed away at the invader. The effect of this gallant act upon the Zeppelin was most satisfactory, as she moved off almost immediately; but the consequences to our brave defender were most unfortunate. The lady next door—just what might be expected of a lady next door —ran for the police and reported that her neighbour was signalling to the enemy with a gun. So no sooner had the Englishman's home been delivered from the German invader than it was raided by his own countrymen. The valiant householder was marched off to the police station, and called upon to exculpate himself from a charge of treachery. Thus do we reward our heroes."
