ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A SHUNTING ACCIDENT. A railway shunter named Charles Herbert Beir, of Somerset Street, Spreydon, was admitted to the Hospital last evening. .He was caught between two waggons at the Waltham Boa,d. crossing, and received injuries to his >heaid. OLD MAN'S DEATH. Walter-Hartnell", an old man, was taken,to the Hospitalby the police last night, and died there, shortly before midnight.; ~ v x :'\\,i THE INQUEST, '^\. An enquiry was held at the Hospital this afternoon by the Coroner' (Mr H. W. Bishop). ; Waltef Charles Hartnell, sbn of the deceased, said that his father was about 70 years of age, and lived apart from his wife. Witness had not seen the deceased for about two years, and knew nothing of his general state of health. *Dr Gordon MaeDiarmid, house surgeon at the Hospital, said that deceased was admitted to the Hospital about 5 p.m. yesterday in a dying condition. He never rallied, and died about 11 p.m. Witness'had found, in a post-mortem examination/ that deceased had pneumonia' and extensive cardiac disease. A verdict 'in accordance with the medical evidence was returned.
