KILLED IN .ACTION. CORPORAL J. ELMES. Corporal J. Elmes, aged 22, killed in action, was l)orn in Napier, and was the sixth son of Mr J. Elmes, an old resident of Napier. He was educated at the District School, and afterwards served his apprenticeship at the drapery trade. Three

years ago he was for a short time in the employ of Messrs Beath and Co., of this city. He returned to Napier, from where he enlisted, and left with the sth Reinforcements. He was a brother to Mr F. J. Eliries, of Torrens Road, Hillmorten.
