TE WHARE SCHOOL.

SPORTS AT FENDALTON. A pleasant afternoon was spent on Saturday by the pupils of Te Wliare School, when, at the invitation of Mr and Mrs W. B. Clarkson, jun., the school sports were held at their residence, "Croydon," Ilam Road, Fendalton. In conjunction with the sports, Mrs Clarkson held a bazaar in aid of funds ,for wounded soldiers, the sum of £49 11/1 being realised. Mrs Clarkson presented the prizes, and hearty cheers were given for the host and hostess, the principal of Te Whare School, and the boys at the front. The results of the sports are as follow: — 50yds (Mrs E. Ballantyife's prize).— N. Ellwood 1, B. Bonnington 2, R. Buchanan 3. High Jump, senior (Mrs W. B. Clarkson, sen.'s prize). —S. Kyle 1, P. Clarkson 2, M. Peate 3. Egg and Spoon Race.—N. Ellwood 1, K. Labatt 2. Potato Race (Mrs T. Lewis's prize).— S. Kyle and K. Labatt (equal) 1, N. Ellwood 3. High Jump, junior.—J. Grant 1, P. Williams 2. 30yds. —R. Buchanan 1, P. Brown 2, M. Mitchell 3. Three-legged Race. —N. Ellwood and K. Labatt 1, M. Peate and D. Lewis 2, J. Grant and B. Bonnington 3. Consolation Race. —D. Clowes.
