MORE PEACE TERMS.
[ MADE IN GERMANY. "EXTENDING THE COLONIAL POSSESSIONS. 4 " One of the redeeming features of the German papers is that, like the lowly-born heroine of a certain ; famous play of recent times, they keep us in a perpetual state of wonderment as to what they will say next. Recently, "Die Neue Zeit" added to the list of astonishing admissions made by German journals the frank confession that Germany undertook this war with "the main object of extending her colonial possessions." All the wild talk about having been "forced into war" by British perfidy has been dropped, and almost concurrently with the frank .confession that they have been preparing for at least 25 years to attack France, comes this admission of the end which Germany has all along had in view. Too Modest by Half. Discussing the whole question of this policy of land-grabbing, "Die Neue Zeit" says: "Herr Paul Rohrbach favours the acquisition of the whole of Central Africa, but opines that this territory, vast as it is, will not be adequate to! furnish Germany with all the elbow room she may require within the next half century. "Professor Delbruck, while agreeing with Herr Rohrbach, as to the importance of Central Africa, as well as of Angola and the whole of British East Africa, further emphasises the necessity for the acquisition of the Soudan and the southern part of the Sahara, now in the possession of France. """
"Although we have at no time been upholders of the mad idea which is held by many persons who are sane enough in other matters, that the world entire ought to be Germany's, we are quite in agreement with these eminent leaders that we must found an 'lndia' of our own,,and that the greater part of the African continent must furnish the requisite territory. Once well established in this new empire, we shall link ourselves with Asiatic Turkey, and also with China, reconstructing the political and economic foundations of both on a scientific German basis:"
