... » The Christchurch Homing Pigeon Society flew off a race from Woodville on Saturday, November 13. Seventyeight birds were sent, divided amongst 15 owners competing. The birds were liberated by the station master at 7.30 a.m. in'fine weather, with a nor'-west wind, which changed to a nor'-east as the birds neared home. The birds put up fast timess very little time dividing the first six placed birds; The winner was Mr E. Rowe's Gurka, which flew the distance of 281 miks 1263 yds air-line hi 6h 52min 56sec.
