The Premier of New South Wales states that the recruit- ., ing campaign in that State has been a comparative failure. Details are to hand of the proposal to raise an additional force of 50,000 men in the Commonwealth, It is reported that another of Germany 's largest ships of war has been sunk by a mine in the Baltic. The British forces are now within 13 miles of Baghdad. Further successes are reported for the Italians in the t struggle for Gorizia.
