FRENCH TRANSPORT SUNK.
OFFICER TELLS OF SCENES OF HORROR.

An officer on the steamer Lady Plymouth tells the story of how the French transport Calvass was sunk by a submarine in the Mediterranean. »
The Lady Plymouth picked up a boat containing 46 trench soldier who had been in the trenches for 15 months and were going, to recuperate. The officer states that lie saw three soldiers, after losing hold of a raft, swim to the submarine, hoping to be taken aboard, but the submarine's officer kicked the men's hands, arid their comrades were obliged to look on, helpless, while the men drowned. Some of the rescued were terribly cut and bruised.
The Lady Plymouth saved 53 out of 800, but there are no tidings of the remainder. ,
