SPRING FAIR.
The Mayor (Mr H. Holland) opened the Spring Fair at Durham Street South Methodist Church yesterday afternoon. The hall was prettily decorated,, and during the afternoon Miss Holland contributed songs, and later other musical items, and numerous competitions were provided. The fair is in aid of the Central Methodist Mission Fund, in order to lift the debt incurred by the Grand Theatre series of missions. There were several stalls, which were held as follows:—No. 1, useful stall, Mesdames Steer, Stevens, and Cum ming; No. 2, useful stall, Mrs Robson, sen., and Mesdames Landry and Middlemas; produce and cake stall, Mesdames Pearce, Wilson, and Ingram; refreshments, Mesdames Itchings and Itchens, Miss Newman, and Mrs McDonald, assisted by members of the Ladies' Bible Class; general and miscellaneous stall, Mesdames Hyde, Capnall, and Turvey; flower stall, Misses Cragg; sweet stall, Miss N. Cocker; ice cream stall, Misses Cocker and Lomas. The fair will be continued to-day.
