MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
TO-DAY'S CASES. Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., presided at the sitting of the Police Court this morning. DRUNKENNESS, ETC. Three male first offenders were each fined the usual 5/-, and another man, who had been on remand for a week was convicted and discharged. Patrick McCabe admitted having been drunk at Islington, and further admitted having procured liquor during the currency of a prohibition order. On the application of the Senior-Sergeant, MeCabe was remanded for a week. Herbert Fletcher was similarly charged with an offence of drunkenness in Moorhouse Avenue, and with a breach of his prohibition order. He admitted both offences, and was fined 10/-, with the option of 48 hours' imprisonment on each charge. ALLEGED ASSAULT. ■Wm. Henry Allen (Mr Donnelly) was charged with being an idle and disorderly person, having insufficient lawful means of support, and with having on the 2nd inst., at Christchurcli, assaulted Police Constable Lindsay Templeton by cutting him with a knife while he was acting in the execution of his duly. Accused had been 011 remand for a week, and the first charge was withdrawn. He was then remanded till Wednesday, that the charge might be amended to make the offence an indictable one. •"** JUDGMENT SUMMONS ORDERS. Arthur Dixon was ordered to pay £ll 8/6 to F. D. Kesteven forthwith, in default 11 days' imprisonment, and D. Adamson was ordered to pay £ll 15/G forthwith to F. D. Kesteven, in default 111 days' imprisonment.
