END IN SIGHT. PRIME* MINISTER'S EXPECTATIONS. [From our own Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, September 28. When the Government's intention with regard to the taxation proposals were announced in the House of Representatives to-day, by the Minister of Finance, Mr G. Witty (Riccarton) asked the Prime Minister whether he would announce what business the Government intended to go on with before the end of the session.
Mr said that as soon as the financial Bill was disposed of; he would be in a position to make a definite statement. y Mr G. \y. Forbes (Hurunui): When are you going to close the session? Mr Massey: As soon as the Bills the Government proposes to bring down are disposed of. (Laughter.) Mr Witty said that about half-a-dozen new Bills had been introduced the previous day, and he wished to know how many more there were to be. Mr Massey said that there was a small Land Bill and a small Defence Bill, neither of which need take up the time of the House. There were a few minor measures, and, of course, {he "washing up" Bill. He thought the House ought to be able to close down about the middle of next week.
