PATRIOTIC FUNDS.

At the Rangiora saleyards to-day a fancy cushion presented by Mr C. Kinley was auctioned by Mr 1/ Jamieson for the Canterbury Patriotic Fund, and realised £4. Two hoggets, sold on behalf of the hospital ship, brought 27/6 each. At a meeting of the Carnival Committee of the Canterbury Patriotic Fund held last evening, at which Mr B. Falk presided, it was decided to set out to increase the £27,000 already, in hand to £IOO,OOO. Two important decisions were to hold a Queen of the Carnival contest in about February of 1916, and a Motor Carnival, probably on Boxing Day.
