• ALLIES' GAINS MAINTAINED. IMPORTANT NEW POSITIONS CAPTURED. By Calle.—Press Association.—Copyright. (Received September 28, 8.40 a.m.) ; PARIS, September 27. The new offensive is continuing in the Champagne region. The gains made have been maintained, and new German positions have been-captured. The High Commissioner reports: — LONDON, September 27 (5.5 p.m.). All our positions to the east of Souehez are being maintained. ■«.'..: In the Champagne region there is violent fighting on the whole front. Several new points have been occupied, notably Trou Bricet, to the north of Jacques farmstead. Some points have been passed by the Allies where the enemy Had maintained himself. Overnight messages giving some details of the Allies' big offensive movement will.be found in another column of this issue.
