MISSING, BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN KILLED. PRIVATE r7j. THOMAS. Private Rupert Jennings Thomas, Wellington Battalion, who has been reported as missing and believed to have been killed, was the fifth son of Mrs David Thomas, of Ashburton, and was about 20 years old. He

was educated at the Ashburton High School and at Christ's College. Private Thomas was a very enthusiastic botanist, and until he enlisted in the Main Expeditionary Force he was in charge of a fruit farm in Hawke's Bay. He was a very fine swimmer.
