Miss Kelly (Wellington) is visiting jOnristchurch. ' -Mr! and Mrs Harper (Geraldine) came in to Christchurch yesterday, and are staying at the United Service. Miss E. M. Webb (Divnediu) is on a visit to Christelvurek. ' Miss D. Scott (Rangiora) is staying at Warner's. On Saturday last Mrs Mark Steans, ©pawa, entertained a large party of guests at a "cigarette afternoon tea."

Mias White-Parsons was a passenger for the north by last evening's ferry steamer. Mrs Canning has returned to Fairlie, after a short visit to Christcliurch. Miss Elizabeth Shand and Miss D. Howell have returned to South Canterbury from a visit to Rotorua. On the eventide of life, Mr and Mrs James Fitzgerald (nee Miss Ellen Doyles), of Auckland, celebrated, on Wednesday, the diamond jubilee of their wedding 60 years ago. Although the husband is 82 years of age, and the ■wife 80, they are both wonderfully well preserved, physically, while mentally they are as alert as if they were 40 years younger. They were born in "Waterford, Ireland, and came to Auckland in the ship Forfarshire in 1875. They were married at the Roman Catholic Church, Dowlais, by the Rev. Father Malay, on September 22, 1855. There are 40 grandchildren and 41 greatgrandchildren. Two grandsons are in the service, one being at the Dardanelles and the other reported seriously ill at Malta.
